Counterfeit goods tell us so much about human behavior and material culture. Counterfeits help us understand the politics of luxury and how it is created through design but not necessarily quality. Counterfeit goods rely heavily on design (most often by those who are not trained designers) to create believable products to emulate another luxurious product. This leads to fascinating conglomerations of designs, logos and products that can be anything from humorous to dangerous.
